On Sunday afternoon, a number of the current Celtic FC Women's squad got their first taste of playing at Celtic Park, and it proved to be a memorable experience as the Hoops beat Hearts 5-0.

The result maintains the team's place at the top of the SWPL table, and on a day when Elena Sadiku's side produced an impressive team performance, there was also a special individual display as Murphy Agnew hit a hat-trick, complemented by goals from Lucy Ashworth-Clifford and Tash Flint.

And speaking after the game, Murphy Agnew said: “We are top of the league, three points secured, so we are really pleased.

“I really enjoyed the experience of being out there. It was a really good atmosphere, and a great pitch to play on.

‘We all know how great a stadium it is, so it was a good day.’

“Our fans are amazing, we love playing in front of them and they are the best fans in the world.”

It was Lucy Ashworth-Clifford who got the scoring underway at Paradise with an early strike from a long cross to the back post which ended up in the Hearts net, and having recently returned from long-term injury, it was another special moment on a special day for the winger, who was also taking to the Celtic Park pitch for the first time.

She said: “It was good. I enjoyed it, and I think the girls did too. We put in a good performance and a show for the fans, so it was a good afternoon.

‘I don’t think I really meant that, but I’ll take it.’

“It was really good to experience that for the first time. I’ve been walking through here for two years, and not had a chance to do it.

“So it was really nice to get to do that today.”

BACK THE GHIRLS AT HAMPDEN PARK

Following their triumph at Paradise, Elena Sadiku's side are quickly back in action with another huge game this coming Saturday (April 27).

Making the short trip to Hampden Park, the Ghirls take on Glasgow rivals Rangers in the semi-final of the Scottish Gas Women's Scottish Cup.
