Fabrizio Romano insists Manchester United are only willing to part ways with Jadon Sancho on a permanent transfer.

The Premier League giants spent over £70 million to secure the player’s services from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021, but it proved to be one of the club’s worst pieces of business over the past few years.

Man Utd co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe identified Sancho as one of five ‘overpaid’ and ‘probably not good enough’ players brought in by the previous administration.

The London native endured two and a half miserable years at Old Trafford before spending the last 18 months on loan between Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea.

Man United seeking solution for Jadon Sancho dilemma

Despite his ‘amazing’ form in the earlier part of the season, the Blues have recently relieved themselves of the obligation to buy the winger for £25 million by paying a £5m penalty.

Therefore, Sancho is now set to return to United who must find him a new club, as Ruben Amorim has no desire to keep him at Carrington.

In recent days, it has been suggested that the management could renew the player’s contract, thus pushing back the deadline beyond June 2026, which would then give extra breathing room and pave the way for another loan spell.

Nevertheless, Romano insists United are keen to sell Sancho this summer. The Italian journalist revealed as much in the latest video update on his official YouTube channel.

Napoli’s plan to sign Sancho

The transfer market expert confirms Napoli’s interest in the 25-year-old, but the issue is that the Italian champions are only willing to sign him on loan, with MUFC covering part of the player’s hefty salary.

At the moment, the Red Devils aren’t willing to accept this sort of formula, as their priority is to cash in on the player and fund new market operations.

However, if Man Utd fail in finding a new buyer, they might reluctantly agree to this sort of operation, perhaps at the later stages of the summer transfer window.
