Atlanta United have begun what is looking to be a busy off-season by making some moves on and off of the field. First, Atlanta United have transferred midfielder Santiago Sosa to Argentine club Racing Club for a reported $4m (reported by Tom Bogert). Bogert also reported that there is a chance for another $2.5m and sell on % for Sosa in this deal. The 25 year old joined Atlanta in 2021 and since then recorded 3 goal contributions in 70 games for the club. Last season he did spend on loan at Racing Club where he did impress in his almost 4,600 minutes played across all competitions. Atlanta United has also traded away winger Tyler Wolff to Real Salt Lake for $50,000 in GAM.

Staying on the field, Atlanta decided to re-sign striker Jamal Thiare ahead of the 2025 season. The 31 year old attacker had 8 goals & 3 assists in roughly 2,000 minutes last season. Thiare should be the veteran backup option to whoever they sign as a DP striker in 2025. Staying in the veteran department, Atlanta traded for midfielder Mateusz Klich from D.C. United in exchange for a SuperDraft selection and up to $50,000 in GAM. Klich will not be a DP on Atlanta’s roster as D.C. United will retain some of his salary charge. The 34 year old Polish International had 9 goal contributions in almost 3,000 minutes in 2024. In Klich’s 70 games played for D.C. United he had 7 goals and 13 assists. Klich will add some great midfield depth with Slisz and Muyumba. The final midfield field signing so far this off-season is former Atlanta United academy player Will Reilly who is coming off of his NCAA soccer career at Stanford University. The 22 year old central midfielder had 28 goal contributions during his 75 game collegiate career as well as 2 assists in about 2,500 professional minutes for Atlanta United 2 prior to college.

The final on field signing so far this off-season is the re-signing of fullback Ronald Hernandez. The 27 year old Venezuelan international has played both right-back and left-back during his Atlanta United career. Last season he played in 21 games for Atlanta, recording 1 assist in that time. He has played 63 career games for Atlanta United with 3 goal contributions.

Outside of the on-field build, Atlanta United are building out their off-field staff with a new Manager in Ronny Deila and new Sporting Director in Chris Henderson. Deila is a 49 year old Manager who has previously won within MLS during his time with New York City FC. Deila won the 2021 MLS Cup, two Scottish Premier League titles with Celtic, as well as a Norwegian League title with Stromsgodset IF. In 621 career games managed between Stromsgodset, Celtic, Valerenga, NYCFC, Standard Liege, Club Brugge, and Al-Wahda he has a record of 310 wins, 127 draws, and 184 losses. Deila is an excellent managerial mind that is now being paired with a top front office mind of Chris Henderson. Henderson has won 9 trophies while in a front office role since 2008 between his time in Seattle and Miami. He has been in a position to build some of the greatest MLS rosters of all time. Atlanta United have done a lot in a short period of time, but they still have a long off-season to turn around what has been a rough few seasons for this organization.
