Arsenal are working on a deal to sign Rosenborg midfielder Sverre Nypan during the January transfer window, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.

Talks between the Gunners, the Norwegian top-flight club and the player’s representatives are advancing, but a decision on his future has yet to be made, and no agreement has been reached.

The 18-year-old Nypan has attracted some of the bigwigs across Europe, and Arsenal face fierce competition from other suitors for his services.

Given that the Norwegian league is currently in their off-season, landing the teenage sensation this month is very feasible, and he could link up with Gunners skipper Martin Odegaard should a move work out.

Nypan boasts huge potential and talents and has been compared to his compatriots and the Arsenal midfielder due to their similar style of play.

He is currently in Manchester to visit Manchester City and discuss a potential move, but Arsenal remain firmly in the race and will hope to pip the reigning champions to his services in the coming days.

The North Londoners plan to sign Nypan immediately for their first-team as he has been playing senior football since he was 15 years, and it is believed he has what takes to impress in the Premier League.

He is the complete package as he can pass well, carry the ball, create goalscoring chances and score goals, and landing him will be huge for Arsenal.
