Daniele De Rossi meets with idol Roy Keane | OneFootball

It was a day full of emotions for the Giallorossi coach Daniele De Rossi, who had the opportunity to meet his idol Roy Keane.

The two met at the Core de Roma restaurant in Via Vetulonia, an iconic street for Roma fans because Francesco Totti grew up there.

The meeting took place thanks to a Sky UK series, “The Overlap”, hosted by Keane himself together with Jamie Carragher, Ian Wright and Gary Neville.

Roy Keane had always been a role model for De Rossi, so much so that the former Roma midfielder had stated in the past that he is the only person he has ever asked for a photo.

During his playing career, De Rossi was always inspired by the Irish footballer, sharing a similar playing style with him: tough, combative, with the same role on the pitch and, above all, the same shirt number, 16 -a choice that the coach made both for his daughter Gaia and in honor of the Irish midfielder, native of Cork.

The evening was a special occasion for him, who was able to spend time with his idol, reliving memories and anecdotes that accompanied him throughout his career. A meeting that will certainly remain among the most significant moments for the Giallorossi coach.
