Crystal Palace have received a huge boost in their bid to stay in the Europa League.

The Eagles are expected to remain in the European competition, with John Textor deemed not to have a controlling influence in the club.

Palace enjoyed an impressive 2024-25 campaign, winning their first FA Cup by beating Manchester City in the final to qualify for the Europa League.

However, their participation in Europe has been in doubt due to Eagle Football’s majority ownership of Ligue 1 side Lyon, which breaches UEFA’s multi-club ownership rules.

Nottingham Forest, who stand to gain if Palace are ejected from the tournament, have written to UEFA to express concerns over their rivals’ participation.

Eagle Football reportedly owns 43 percent of the London club, with Textor’s own stake less than 30%.

The club has maintained that it operates entirely independently and not within the structures of a multi-club model.

They insist they share no employees, backroom staff or coaches with Lyon, who have also earned a Europa League spot through finishing sixth in Ligue 1.

The consortium includes NBA star Jimmy Butler. If the offer is accepted, it would value the club in excess of $465m.
