Crystal Palace boss makes bizarre claim about Leicester City transfer | OneFootball

Speaking to the media, Oliver Glasner has essentially closed the door to Odsonne Edouard returning to Crystal Palace from Leicester City and playing.

As far as the "relegation mini-league" is going, Leicester City have set themselves up in good stead. They are yet to lose a match since Ruud van Nistelrooy took charge and they currently sit 16th in the Premier League table, five points clear of safety.

With that being said, Leicester City are looking ahead to the January transfer window. While the Foxes are in good form, they aren't becoming complacent. Ruud van Nistelrooy knows he has a job to do in the transfer window, after all.

One of the avenues Leicester are currently exploring is to terminate Odsonne Edouard's loan spell and see him return to Crystal Palace. This way, a Premier League loan slot would open up for the Foxes.

According to a report from talkSPORT, though, Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has claimed that it wouldn't make sense for Edouard to return to Crystal Palace to play. The reason for this, in Glasner's view, is that he cannot play for Leicester so he shouldn't play for Crystal Palace.

In his own words, Glasner said: "From our side, It makes no sense to bring him back because if he’s not playing at Leicester, then why should he play for Crystal Palace?... If he doesn’t get minutes at Leicester, then maybe he finds another loan. But it’s not the case of him coming back to play."

This is a rather bizarre comment for Leicester to make. The principle of claiming 'not good enough for Leicester, definitely not good enough for Crystal Palace' is poorly timed, given the positioning of both teams in the Premier League table.

Leicester are above Crystal Palace. Even speaking contextually, Leicester are having a far better season than Crystal Palace given the standards of both clubs.

However, we would be remiss not to mention Edouard's lack of minutes he'd see at Crystal Palace. Indeed, Palace do have a brilliant striker themselves - He is their diamond in the rough, some would say.

Still, it's bizarre for Glasner to write off a player who is clearly hungry for minutes.
