Cristian Romero believes Tottenham “deserved” more from Ange Postecoglou’s first season in charge.

Spurs started the season in sterling fashion and were even being tipped as Premier League title challengers before falling away in the second half of the campaign after a series of key injuries.

Romero has been on the Australian’s key players in north London, starting 33 of the club’s 38 League games.

The Argentine believes it was “one of the best seasons” but conceded a he “cannot be 100 per cent happy” about it.

“One of the best seasons, but I cannot be 100 per cent happy,” he wrote on X.

“This team deserved more, this club and its fans deserve to win! I, along with my teammates, have given everything to try and in my life I will never stop fighting to get higher and to get better every day.

“Thanks to our fans for always being there, for better or for worse! London is white, come on you Spurs.”

Romero is not part of the Spurs squad who have travelled to Australia for a post-season friendly against Newcastle.

The defender and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are the only two first-team squad members not to have made the journey, other than the injured Destiny Udogie, Timo Werner, Ben Davies, Richarlison, Yves Bissouma and Giovani Lo Celso, Fraser Forster, Ryan Sessegnon and Manor Solomon.
