A fresh update has emerged involving in-demand full-back Milan van Ewijk's future at Coventry City
Coventry City Milan van Ewijk is not closing in on a switch to Fulham, amid claims linking the highly-rated defender with an impending move to Craven Cottage.
This update has been revealed by BBC Sport journalist Mantej Mann, who reported via his X account on Thursday morning that the right-back is not currently set to join Marco Silva's side.
His future at the CBS Arena has been the subject of speculation for some time, with van Ewijk having impressed for the large part since his arrival from Eredivisie outfit SC Heerenveen two summers ago.
The 24-year-old has made exactly 100 appearances for Coventry across all competitions and featured in all but one of their 46 Championship fixtures last time out as they secured a fifth-placed finish under Frank Lampard before losing out to Sunderland in the play-off semi-finals.
Last month, Football League World exclusively revealed interest in van Ewijk's signature from Everton and Fulham, although no move to the Cottagers appears to be imminent quite just yet. Van Ewijk has previously been linked with a move to Turkish giants Galatasaray, too, and he looks set to receive a host of interest this summer.
Yesterday evening, claims emerged via an online Coventry fan forum suggesting that a player was leaving the club, which was soon stated to be van Ewijk.
However, there seems to be nothing in these claims at this moment in time, and any impending move to Fulham has been swiftly played down.
As per Mann's update, van Ewijk is not currently close to joining Fulham and the journalist has reported that the rumours are false.
This, of course, does not mean that van Ewijk categorically will not join Fulham at some stage this summer.
However, it's clear that the attack-minded full-back is some way off sealing a move to West London right now.
Should van Ewijk decide to leave in order to fulfil what will only be a natural ambition to prove himself at the highest level following Coventry's failed promotion bid via the play-offs, the Sky Blues will be able to command a significant fee for his services.
A favourite of Lampard's, van Ewijk still has two years to run on his current deal at the club and, at 24, is a financial asset with resale value and future potential.
