As has been proved in the last week, Paulo Fonseca is not afraid to make a statement. Far from it. The Portuguese head coach wants his AC Milan team to be a certain way, and he will speak about it publically should it be required.

Last week, fans probably thought it could not get much worse than the public outburst about the officiating against Milan. Fast forward to Wednesday, and we are now at a point of no return, and Fonseca has made his bed.

As Corriere dello Sport (via Milan Press) write, the head coach is not afraid to make complaints about attitudes, and this showed in August when he complained about his side’s defensive attitude after the defeat to Parma.

After the Fiorentina game, Fonseca complained about the choice to take two penalties away from Christian Pulisic, given he had already given words of frustration behind closed doors, he felt a public reminder was needed.

In November, there were often discrepancies between the head coach and the players in their evaluations of games – something which overlapped into December, and the post-Atalanta rant. However, we saw the flip side of this in midweek, with Malick Thiaw voicing his support, and concern, for the current situation.
