The Addicks are preparing for their return to the Championship.
Charlton Athletic will be a Championship club for the first time since 2020 during the upcoming 2025/26 campaign.
Nathan Jones' side defeated Leyton Orient in the League One play-off final at Wembley last month to ensure that they will be playing in the second tier again next term.
The last time Charlton avoided relegation from the Championship was in 2015, so they will need to get things right during the summer transfer window if they are going to re-establish themselves at that level next season.
The Addicks beat Derby County to the signing of midfielder Sonny Carey on a free transfer from Blackpool earlier this summer, before bidding around £1.3 million for Leyton Orient's Ethan Galbraith, so the supporters should have hope that the club can complete some important business before August.
One area of the pitch that will be key for Charlton to strengthen this summer is up front, with Matty Godden being the only striker in the squad who has Championship experience.
Chuks Aneke has been released, Gassan Ahadme has failed to impress since his arrival last summer, while Micah Mbick and Daniel Kanu are unlikely to be ready for Championship football at this stage, meaning that Jones could do with another out-and-out striker to go alongside Godden, Miles Leaburn and Tyreece Campbell.
Charlton were relegated to League One in 2020 after Lyle Taylor and Macauley Bonne scored 11 goals each in the Championship, so they will know they need a striker who can find the net on a consistent basis if they are going to be successful next season.
Godden's ability and experience will be invaluable for the Addicks, but he only scored six goals in 35 appearances for Coventry the last time he played in the second tier, so let's take a look at three strikers that Charlton could consider signing this summer to ensure they have enough quality in the final third.
Nathan Jones prefers to sign players permanently rather than bringing them in on loan, but Dane Scarlett could be a shrewd temporary addition from Tottenham Hotspur.
The 21-year-old scored four goals in 20 Championship appearances for Oxford United last season, which was a decent return considering he only made seven starts in the league.
He was recalled by Spurs in January and made three-goal contributions across five appearances in the Premier League and the Europa League during the second half of the campaign.
Scarlett has had three loan spells away from Tottenham now, so he could have the necessary experience to show why he is so highly rated and make a serious impact in the Championship next season, especially if he is able to stay close to home in London.
It would not be a Charlton transfer window under Nathan Jones without some speculation over whether the Welshman will link up with a player he worked with at Luton Town.
Bristol City forward Harry Cornick scored 22 goals and assisted 16 in the Championship for the Hatters between 2019 and 2022, with some of his best football being played while Jones was in the dugout at Kenilworth Road.
The 30-year-old has been out of favour at Ashton Gate and, with just one year remaining on his contract, a reunion at The Valley could make sense for both Cornick and Jones.
Croydon-born Peterborough United forward Malik Mothersille scored 12 goals and assisted nine in League One last season for a Posh side that finished 18th in the table.
The Jamaica international showed Charlton what he is capable of by scoring home and away against the Addicks for Darren Ferguson's side during the 2024/25 campaign.
Football League World has exclusively revealed that The Addicks are interested in signing the 21-year-old this summer, while Queens Park Rangers are also considering a move for him.
Peterborough have a history of demanding significant transfer fees for their main assets, but Charlton's bid for Galbraith suggests they have some money to spend, and the prospect of returning to the capital to play Championship football could be tempting for Mothersille, who has just one year remaining on his contract at the Weston Homes Stadium.
