Carlos Vinícius has emerged as a potential reinforcement for Corinthians, with the club currently weighing up the merits of signing the 30-year-old striker, according to UOL. The Brazilian forward is now available on a free transfer after his contract with Fulham expired at the end of the English season.
Talks between Corinthians' board and Vinícius’ representatives are ongoing, with the club seeking clarity over the financial conditions of a possible deal. While the transfer would not require a fee, Corinthians would need to meet the player's wage demands and consider the possibility of a signing-on bonus.
Signing another centre-forward was not initially among Corinthians' priorities for this window, but the club is considering Vinícius due to a lack of depth in the number nine role. Following Pedro Raul’s loan move to Ceará, manager Dorival Júnior is left with just Yuri Alberto and Héctor Hernández as natural strikers, with Memphis Depay available to fill in centrally but not as his preferred position.
Vinícius, who rose through the youth ranks at Santos and Palmeiras before making his professional debut with Caldense, has spent the vast majority of his career in Europe since 2018. His CV includes spells at Real SC and Rio Ave in Portugal, Monaco, Benfica, Tottenham Hotspur, PSV Eindhoven, Fulham, and most recently a loan at Galatasaray.
However, Vinícius arrives as a free agent after a difficult final year at Fulham, where he was limited to just four substitute appearances in the last campaign and failed to score. His previous links with São Paulo were short-lived, with the Morumbi club ruling out a move. Corinthians, meanwhile, remain focused on signing a quick wide attacker and are in talks for Biel from Sporting, but also continue to assess other positions including an attacking midfielder, centre-back, right-back, and potentially another holding midfielder.
The Vinícius proposal represents an opportunity for Corinthians to address a longstanding lack of depth up front, though the club’s decision-makers are approaching the situation with caution, weighing the benefits of bringing in an experienced but out-of-favour striker at this stage of the season.
