Corinthians and commercial partner Appgas have ended their sponsorship agreement less than halfway through its intended duration, following differences over contract terms. The partnership, which began in February, was set to last until the end of the current season but has now been cut short by mutual consent.
Appgas initiated the split, formally requesting the removal of its branding from both matchday kits and advertising boards at the club's Joaquim Grava training complex. The company has committed to paying the termination fee outlined when the deal was signed. During Tuesday’s open training session, there was no sign of Appgas logos, marking a clear visual end to the affiliation.
According to sources familiar with the negotiations, Appgas expressed concerns with several aspects of the sponsorship arrangement. Rather than continue under unsatisfactory conditions, the company opted to exercise its right to a contract exit, while meeting its financial obligations. Corinthians, meanwhile, is still pursuing dialogue in hopes of renegotiating terms and salvaging the partnership, but for now, the shirt’s chest area stands vacant.
The Appgas deal had provided not just kit visibility but also rights to activate the brand on matchdays, a key asset in Brazil’s sponsorship market. With the space now open, Corinthians is actively exploring replacement partners.
Alongside the sponsor change, the club is evaluating a significant shift in its kit supplier strategy. Talks are ongoing between president Augusto Melo and Adidas regarding a potential decade-long deal reportedly worth up to 1 billion reais. For such an agreement to progress, Corinthians would first need to sever ties with current partner Nike.
These developments come at a time of transition off the pitch as well, with recent changes to the club’s medical staff—as headlined by the departure of chief medical officer Ana Carolina Ramos e Côrte—even as the squad deals with a demanding fixture calendar and injuries to key players.
For Corinthians, the exit of a major sponsor highlights the club’s ongoing efforts to stabilize its finances and strengthen commercial relations. Finding an immediate replacement for Appgas and resolving talks on the next kit supplier will play a crucial role in shaping the club’s commercial future.
