Napoli don’t believe that Antonio Conte has already decided to depart and return to Juventus. On the other hand, they’ll have to meet his hefty conditions to continue on the Azzurri bench, Il Mattino reports.
Aurelio De Laurentiis will have his chance to reel in the coach in a meeting after the final game. The gaffer will request a host of reinforcements and a €200M budget for the summer window. Moreover, he wants the payroll to grow from €80M to €100/110M.
Napoli don’t think that Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli really wants to hire Conte. It’d be a choice imposed by the ownership, which could cause issues and a ripple effect. Moreover, the Bianconeri won’t have as much to spend as the Partenopei in the summer. Furthermore, the boss won’t have as much leverage in shaping the roster and picking the players as he does in Campania.
On the other hand, the manager also demands improvements concerning the training center and the youth academy. The same outlet reports that Victor Osimhen won’t head to Turin and will instead transfer to a foreign team.
They have indeed more ammo than the Old Lady because of their previous and upcoming big sales, but they also need to fill out their squad a lot more significantly, so their firepower is relative. Plus, they were lavish last summer without cashing in on anybody, and De Laurentiis will surely remind the boss of that. It’ll come down to comfort, personal relations, and sensations rather than sheer numbers. And, even if successful at first, they wouldn’t be totally safe from an exit later in the summer in case of unfulfilled promises.
