The Premier League have confirmed the full list of match officials to oversee proceedings between Ipswich Town and Manchester City this weekend.

Pep Guardiola and his players will be desperate to ensure that their unbeaten run since a 0-2 win over Leicester City prior to the turn of the year continues, as the club builds somewhat of a comeback following a torrid November and December across competitions.

Last time out came further disappointment for the team despite avoiding defeat at the Gtech Community Stadium, as Manchester City threw away a two-goal lead courtesy of a Phil Foden brace with just 13 minutes remaining in west London to draw 2-2.

That draw leaves the reigning Premier League champions outside of the top-four, in what now appears to be the club’s top aim for the rest of the domestic top-flight season having accepted that their chances of a fifth successive league crown have now disappeared.

With a significant challenge still facing the club over recording a top-four finish, each and every game is likely to be viewed as a must-win by the players, and that includes a stern test away from home against the Premier League’s newcomers this weekend.

Ahead of the meeting between Ipswich and Manchester City, the Premier League have now announced the list of match officials to oversee proceedings at Portman Road!

Match Referee

The Premier League have confirmed that 32-year-old referee, Sam Barrott has been appointed as the lead match referee for the meeting between Ipswich and Manchester City at Portman Road on Sunday afternoon.

This will be Barrott’s 14th outing in the Premier League this season, having issued 64 yellow cards in his matches so far including the awarding of two penalties, without issuing a single dismissal.

Manchester City have only come across Barrott once so far this campaign in a 2-1 defeat away to Brighton & Hove Albion, in which Jahmai Simpson-Pusey, Rico Lewis, and Erling Haaland all received yellow cards on the south coast.

Manchester City have only been officiated twice by Barrott including the aforementioned trip to the Amex Stadium, with the previous encounter coming at the Etihad Stadium in a 3-1 home win over Burnley last season.

Assistant Referees

Accompanying Sam Barrott at Portman Road on the field will be an assistant referee pairing of Timothy Wood and Richard West, the Premier League have confirmed.

Video Assistant Referees

As for those overseeing the encounter from Stockley Park and the VAR Hub, the Premier League have appointed Paul Tierney as the game’s Video Assistant Referee, while Nick Hopton is the Assistant Video Assistant Referee.

Fourth Official

Standing between the dugouts and ensuring that proceedings are kept in check between Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna and Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola is Tim Robinson in the role of fourth official.
