Details of the fee set to be received by La Liga giants Barcelona owing to Nico González’s move to Manchester City have on Tuesday come to the fore online.
The name of midfielder Nico has of course dominated the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over recent days.
This comes after word was forthcoming that the 23-year-old – sold by Barcelona to Porto in the summer of 2023 – was preparing for an imminent move to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
This swoop, since confirmed by City, marked a major boost for the board at the Camp Nou, after they secured a sell-on clause on Nico as part of the club’s agreement with Porto.
Initially, the understanding was that this would amount to €24 million, or 40% of the €60 million which the Premier League champions have paid for Nico.
The actual sum heading the way of Barcelona, however, is significantly lower.
As revealed by transfer insider Fabrizio Romano:
‘Porto reveal they bought already part of Barcelona’s future sale right for Nico González. Barça will receive €13m from the sell-on clause for Nico to Man City, not €24m.’
