La Liga giants Barcelona are in line to secure a significant financial windfall ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.
This comes amid confirmation that Porto star Nico González is all set for a move to England, with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
Midfielder Nico, for his part, departed Barcelona on a permanent basis back in the summer of 2023.
As part of their agreement with Portuguese heavyweights Porto, the Blaugrana secured a 40% sell-on clause, aware of the now-23-year-old’s potential to develop into something of a star.
And, as alluded to above, such forward thinking on the part of those behind the scenes at the Camp Nou now looks set to prove hugely beneficial.
As per a report from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano:
‘Nico González to Manchester City, here we go! New midfielder for Pep Guardiola as Man City will pay same amount as release clause worth €60m with different structure.’
Entitled to 40% of this fee, Barcelona, in turn, are in line for a hefty €24 million cash injection.
