Cole Palmer has had a great start to the season and against Aston Villa he surpassed Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba in one stat.
The Blues continued their impressive start to the campaign with a 3-0 win against Villa which saw them move back into the Premier League’s top three.
Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez both scored for the second week running, whilst Palmer was back amongst the goals having gone three games without a goal contribution.
Palmer as expected has played a key role in Chelsea’s start to the season and is the club’s joint top scorer in the league with eight goals, alongside Nicolas Jackson.
Don Hutchinson has likened Palmer to a 1970s Brazilian player which is quite some praise, and although teams have made it more difficult for him this season he’s still finding a way to contribute.
Palmer ended his mini drought against Villa with a brilliant finish, his 30th league for the Blues and as per TNT Sports he reached that landmark faster than club legends Lampard and Drogba.
Given the careers and the numbers they posted for the club it once again highlights what Palmer is doing for Chelsea is just incredible, although he will need to continue operating at this level for a good few years and win major trophies at the club before he can be mentioned in the same conversation.
Lampard and Drogba had a brilliant on pitch relationship and Palmer will be hoping he can strike up something similar with Jackson.
