Theo Hernandez has struggled this season, and reports suggest it is for a multitude of reasons. Therefore, it is in the best interest of everyone for AC Milan to find a cure.
Last season, Theo was considered one of the best full-backs in the world, a title which he had held consistently in recent years. However, this season, he is a million miles away from that player, and there are some key reasons why that could be.
Didier Deschamps claimed his drop was due to a psychological issue – Calciomercato.com, therefore, suggests that the player must work on his mental aspect if a return to his previous levels is possible. A reset as it were, to bring him back to the devastating player who once shone.
In addition to this, there was another issue picked up on – his time on the pitch. Across all competitions, the Frenchman plays effectively every three days, and the mental drop could be linked to his lack of time ‘off’.
Fonseca is seemingly already looking at alternatives for the weekend, and the report suggests that he will not be present from the first minute against Genoa, so perhaps his chance for a mental and physical break could be now.
Looking too far into the future is difficult, especially when a potential departure is hanging over the situation. However, the report suggests that the answer could come from the recruitment team.
The lack of a ‘proper’ deputy has shown heavily this season, and the latest suggestions are that Fabiano Parisi could be an option in the January mercato to offer a more valid rotation option, and this could return Theo to his best.
