Even if AC Milan win the Coppa Italia, this season will be seen as a disappointment, and it is understandable why this will be the case.

This season, the standards have fallen for Milan, and the Rossoneri are left without a place in the Champions League next season, barring a miracle. Of course, an entry to Europe can still be found in two ways, but the ‘easier’ route is in the Coppa Italia.

The Derby della Madonnina, a game which historically offers so much, and can offer a lot for the future. However, it goes beyond that this time, currently it is a case study to learn from, from a management perspective.

As Calciomercato.com write, Beppe Marotta has set up a machine that is able to deal with anything whilst the Rossoneri chop and change at the first sign of fault. In fact, the past two years have been full of this changing, and this is why the club have regressed.

So, this summer, Giorgio Furlani must learn from Marotta and his team, if nothing else than to lessen the gap between themselves and Inter which has only widened of late.

The credibility of the Diavolo’s project must be proved, and Marotta’s formula must be studied and bettered by Milan, urgently.
