Ajax and Club Brugge are nearing a deal for Carlos Forbs, with the 21-year-old winger awaiting a final agreement between the clubs.
Club Brugge submitted a bid to Ajax last week, stating an asking price of around eight million euros, excluding bonuses. The fixed amount Ajax will ultimately receive is slightly lower.
The clubs are expected to reach an agreement on a price of around nine million euros, including bonuses. There is also a resale percentage. The deal is not yet finalised, but Ajax and Club Brugge hope to get it over the line soon.
This will bring Forbs’ time at Ajax to an end in the short term. The Portugal youth international was bought from Manchester City by the now-departed director of football affairs, Sven Mislintat, for 14 million euros excluding bonuses, but he didn’t quite make the grade in Amsterdam. His loan spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers was also relatively disappointing.
Forbs will likely become the sixth player to leave Ajax this summer. Jakov Medic (Norwich City), Borna Sosa (Crystal Palace), Kristian Hlynsson (FC Twente), Christian Rasmussen (Fortuna Düsseldorf), and Jordan Henderson (Brentford) have already left Amsterdam.
