Roma manager Claudio Ranieri refused to take credit for the team’s performance in the Derby della Capitale.
Despite winning his fifth Rome derby, Ranieri remained humble in front of the media and credited the players for their sacrifice since his arrival.
“They always call me when there are these difficult situations, so I try to give my players confidence,” he said. “They earn their confidence, thanks to their performances.”
“Now they have regained their confidence, and with this confidence they know how to win games like this one. They haven’t forgotten, the credit goes to them.”
“Of course, I coach them, I tell them what to do, and thank goodness they listen to me. From day one I told them: “Look, I don’t know you, you are 26 individuals, so try to make me make as few mistakes as possible, because otherwise we’ll get into trouble.”
