A return to training, the FIFA Club World Cup and international football – June is shaping up to be a busy and exciting month for Manchester City’s men’s team.
Below is a guide to what is coming up this month…
Transfer window opens | Sunday, June 1
The 10-day transfer window is now open, with every Premier League club able to purchase new players.
Designed to accommodate new arrivals at clubs involved in the FIFA Club World Cup, the early transfer window will close on 10 June before reopening for the summer on 16 June.
Nations League semi-final | Wednesday, 4 June | Germany v Portugal
City duo Ruben Dias and Bernardo could feature for Portugal against Germany in Munich.
The game will kick-off at 20:00 (UK), with the winners facing either Spain or France who will meet 24 hours later, in the final on Sunday, June 8.
World Cup qualifying | Friday, 6 June
There are several games featuring City players taking place.
Norway take on Italy (19:45 UK) with Erling Haaland and Oscar Bobb called up for national team duty.
Belgium travel to North Macedonia the same evening, with Kevin De Bruyne and Jeremy Doku both included in the Red Devils’ squad.
Finally, Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol have been called up for their game against Gibraltar.
Neither Ederson or Savinho have been selected for Carlo Ancelotti’s first Brazil squad, and Claudio Echeverri has not been included in Argentina’s squad with both nations in action in the early hours of Saturday.
World Cup qualifying | Saturday, 7 June
City’s Kyle Walker, loaned out to AC Milan, is our only representative in the England squad to take on Andorra in Barcelona.
The game will start at 17:00 (UK).
Nathan Ake has been included in Netherlands’ squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
The Dutch travel to Finland with a 19:45 kick-off.
Training Resumes & Internationals | Monday, June 9
After a short break for some of City’s players not involved with their national teams, first team training resumes in preparation for the FIFA Club World Cup.
Pep Guardiola will look to hone his squad’s fitness over several days before the team head out for the USA.
Haaland, Bobb, De Bruyne, Doku, Kovacic and Gvardiol will all be away on World Cup qualifying duties in the following games:
Estonia v Norway – 19:45 (UK)
Belgium v Wales – 19:45 (UK)
Croatia v Czech Republic – 19:45 (UK)
Internationals | Tuesday ,10 June
Abdukodir Khusanov’s Uzbekistan could confirm qualification for the World Cup finals for the first time with victory over Qatar.
The Uzbeks will also progress with a draw if the UAE fail to beat Kyrgyzstan - a huge moment for Kodir's nation.
The game will kick-off at 14:45 (UK).
Ake could feature for the Dutch who host Malta with a 19:45 (UK) kick-off.
Walker could also feature for England who host Senegal in a friendly with the same start time.
Internationals | Wednesday 11 June
Manuel Akanji could feature for the Swiss who take on USA in a friendly in the early hours of Wednesday morning – kick-off is 01:00 (UK).
Main summer transfer window opens | Monday, June 16
The transfer window reopens and will remain in place until Monday, 1 September 19:00 (UK) for Premier League, EFL and Scottish Premiership clubs.
City v Wydad AC | Wednesday, June 18 | 17:00 (UK)
The Blues’ first Group G clash is against Moroccan side Wydad AC.
The match will be played at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia and Guardiola’s men will be looking to start with a win against a side we have never previously met.
City v Al Ain FC | Sunday 22 June | 02:00 (UK)
Our next game is against Saudi Pro League side Al Ain at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
If City can win the opening two Group G matches, we are likely to progress to the Round of 16.
Fans in the UK and Europe will have to stay up late to watch this clash, with a 2am kick-off.
Juventus v City | Thursday 26 June | 20:00 (UK)
Our third group game will see City take on Juventus – a side we have failed to beat in our last six competitive meetings.
Guardiola’s side will look to end that run at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, though both teams can progress to the knockout phase if results have gone positively.
Winning Group G would set up a clash against the runners-up of Group H on 29 June in Atlanta, whereas finishing second in Group G will set up a Round of 16 clash with the winners of Group H – potentially Real Madrid – or Al Hilal, Red Bull Salzburg or Mexican side Pachucha.
