According to a report from local outlet L’Est-éclair, City Group-owned ESTAC Troyes are set to earn €9m from Bryan Mbeumo’s €81m move to Manchester United from Brentford. The Ligue 2 side are set to receive €7.4m from sell-on clause profit that the club had negotiated when the player was sold to Brentford in 2019 for €6.6m which included a €1m bonus linked to Brentford’s promotion to the Premier League. The Champagne region club are also set to earn €2m in training compensation and solidarity payments. In the context of struggling TV rights and a financial crisis across the board in French football’s lower tiers, €9m is a huge amount. The club has recently been aiming to reduce its wage bill. Troyes were only saved by Bordeaux’s administrative relegation to National 2 at the start of last season, which meant Les Troyans avoided double relegation after finishing 17th during the 2023-2024. Last season, l’ESTAC finished 10th on 44 points in France’s second tier. GFFN | George Boxall
