Whilst not officially confirmed by either Chelsea or AS Saint-Étienne, Mathis Amougou (19) can now be considered a Chelsea player, according to Fabrizio Romano.
A deal between the two clubs for a fee of €15m was agreed on transfer deadline day. Contrary to reports, Amougou will not head out to join partner club RC Strasbourg Alsace. With the transfer window now closed, that is now an impossibility regardless.
As a result, Amougou will stay at Chelsea for the next three months, continuing his development with the Premier League side with a view to a loan move to Strasbourg for next season. Andrey Santos (20) will make the journey. By the end of the season, the Brazilian will have spent 18 months with Les Alsaciens and he has made considerable progress in that time.
Romano understands that whilst Amougou will head to Strasbourg to become a regular starter, Santos will return to partner club Chelsea with a view to the midfielder being integrated into the first-team set-up at Stamford Bridge.
