Chelsea want a £5 million fee from West Ham United after the Hammers asked about potentially signing Axel Disasi on a season-long loan, according to The Times journalist Gary Jacob.

The Blues also want West Ham to cover the full wages of the 27-year-old as manager Graham Potter looks to bring him to the London Stadium club today.

Nayef Aguerd is off to join Marseille and the Hammers want an immediate replacement before the 7pm transfer deadline this evening.

West Ham are also reportedly in talks to sign Brighton & Hove Albion centre-back Igor Julio, but they face competition from Crystal Palace for the Brazilian.

Disasi has now emerged as a more realistic target and a deal could be on the cards if both clubs can reach an agreement in the coming hours.

The France international spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa and would prefer to remain in the Premier League to boost his chances of going to the World Cup.

The former AS Monaco star can also feature at right-back, and he will fancy his chances of playing regularly for West Ham if he joins.

Potter needs all the depth he can get at the back after shipping eight goals in the opening two league games against Sunderland and Chelsea, and Disasi would be a solid addition.

The Hammers will be lining up several deals today in their final attempt to strengthen their squad for the new campaign, and twists and turns should be expected.

They finally picked up their first three points of 2025-26 yesterday, putting Nottingham Forest to the sword at the City Ground.

However, Potter knows that he cannot be deceived by the late 3-0 victory and he will look to make further quality additions to his team in the coming hours.
