Chelsea have so many players coming and going from their roster of “assets” that it’s tough to keep up with them all.
Armando Broja was a player on the verge of breaking into the first team just a couple of years ago, but injuries pushed him back and he’s since been buried under a snowdrift of transfers.
His loan to Everton this season took the same course as most of his other recent moves – flashes of promise between frustrating injured periods.
He got his first start since January at the weekend where he helped the Toffees to a 1-0 win, and according to the Athletic there were moments where his “promise” was clear. But after playing just 270 Premier League minutes this season without a goal or assist, it’s hard to see them wanting him back next season.
Where does his future lie then? This piece does make it clear there is some hope – David Moyes has been impressed by some cameos and, it’s noted, tried to sign Broja for West Ham back in 2022. This final month and a half of the season “effectively becomes an audition” for him.

Whether he ends up at Goodison or not, it’s an audition for any team who might be interested. The £30m purchase option that Everton have in their loan is described at “unrealistic,” which is putting it mildly. Until he proves he can stay fit, it’s hard to see anyone taking a punt even at half that.
But the good news is that Chelsea sources think there will be “significant interest” simply because there’s always demand for strikers, so they’re not looking to sell cheap.
Frankly, the best option for all parties might be another year on loan, hoping he can stay injury free and finally make a permanent move in a year’s time.
