Cole Palmer believes Chelsea’s comeback win against Nottingham Forest can act as a catalyst ahead of the final two games of the season.

The Blues showed fighting spirit to score two goals in the final ten minutes to turn the game on it’s head and secure a much needed three points, and move level on points with Newcastle in sixth.

Palmer was once again instrumental as he was named man of the match, and the 22-year-old played a brilliant pass to set up Mykhailo Mudryk for the opener.

Palmer: “Two tough games remaining”

Chelsea’s form has improved massively since the turn of the year and only Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool have taken more points in 2024.

One aspect which has been particularly impressive is the never say die attitude in the squad that has seen the Blues rescues an impressive 19 points from losing positions this season, with five of those resulting in wins.

Palmer was delighted with the victory at the City Ground and feels it can act as a catalyst in the club’s quest for a top six finish and Europa League football.

Palmer brilliantly set up Mudryk for the opening goal against Nottingham Forest.

“We have two tough games and everything to fight for to get sixth place, which is our goal”, Palmer told Chelsea’s official website.

“Hopefully, we can get there and Chelsea as a football club can get back into Europe.

“It was a big win and we needed to win and to get three points.

“After going behind it’s great to get three points”

The England international revealed some words of wisdom from assistant coach Jesus Perez played a key part in the late turn around.

“The first half was a bit flat and we needed to move the ball a bit faster”, he added.

“The manager tweaked a few things at half time which helped because we were losing a lot of duels and Jesus [Perez] told us to sort that out.”

The former Manchester City man also opened up on how much he’s enjoying his football, and feels next season the Blues will show what they are really capable of.

“I’m enjoying my football and that’s what I came to do, play football”, Palmer continued.

“I’m just trying to enjoy it, take each game as it comes, try and keep my feet on the ground, work as hard as I possibly can and keep going.

“We’re starting to gel together and I think everyone will see properly next season what we can do.”

Next up for Palmer and his team-mates is a trip to Brighton on Wednesday evening before Bournemouth visit Stamford Bridge on the final day of the season.
