The future of Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez is entering decisive hours as Chelsea push hard to secure his signing.
In fact, according to SPORT, the Premier League club has raised their initial bid from €58 million to €65 million.
Unlike many transfer deals that include variables and performance bonuses, Chelsea’s new proposal would be a fixed payment.
This means guaranteed money, a significant boost that could immediately help Barcelona’s fragile financial situation.
For the English side, it is a statement of intent, proof of how convinced they are that Fermin can be a key part of Enzo Maresca’s project.
Reports claim that Maresca has even spoken directly with the midfielder, assuring him that he would be an important player from day one.
Chelsea believe this personal touch will help clear any doubts Fermin may have about leaving Camp Nou.

At Barcelona, the situation is complex. The sporting department has made it clear they do not want to give away a player seen as central to Hansi Flick’s plans.
Chelsea’s first proposal was rejected for being too low, but the new €65 million offer has forced the club to at least reconsider, especially given the financial relief it would bring.
However, the final decision may not only come down to money. Fermin has repeatedly shared with those closest to him that he wants to succeed at Barcelona.
“I want to stay,” he insists to those around him, according to SPORT. The midfielder grew up at La Masia, fought hard to earn his place in the first team, and has quickly become a fan favourite.
Even so, he also recognises that Chelsea’s interest represents a huge sporting and financial opportunity.
For Barcelona, the balance is delicate: they won’t close the door if Fermin chooses to leave, but they want Chelsea to meet their valuation.
With €65 million on the table and a lucrative salary proposal for the player, this could be the most decisive moment in the “Fermin case.”
