Blues in need of boost after frustrating run

What had appeared to have been a massive season for Chelsea has stalled in recent weeks.

While Enzo Maresca has consistently played down suggestions his young Blues side were ever in a Premier League title race, recent form will surely have surprised him.

Indeed, Saturday’s disappointing 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace extended their winless run to four matches and even a distant title challenge is now looking more like a fight for the top four.

Clearly, things aren’t a disaster right now but there is little doubt Maresca needs his side to improve.

They could certainly do with a boost on the pitch, so here’s a look at the latest Chelsea injuries.

Romeo Lavia

Romeo Lavia has missed the last four Premier League matches du to a hamstring injury.

Speaking after the Palace game, however, Maresca hinted at a reasonably imminent return.

“Romeo, hopefully the next game he can be involved,” he said.

Potential return date: January 2025

Wesley Fofana

The news regarding Wesley Fofana, however, is sadly far less positive.

The defender suffered a thigh injury during the win over Aston Villa last month and is facing a significant spell on the sidelines.

“Unfortunately he could be out for the season, yeah,” said Maresca on Friday.

“We don’t know exactly. He could be out for part of the season.”

Potential return date: Unknown

Benoit Badiashile

Chelsea will also be without another defender in Benoit Badiashile for at least another month with a thigh problem.

“Benoit will be out at least until February,” confirmed Maresca last week.

Potential return date: February 2025

Carney Chukwuemeka

Yet to have played in the Premier League this season, Carney Chukwuemeka is reportedly suffering with a virus.

Potential return date: Unknown

Omari Kellyman

Summer signing Omari Kellyman has not featured for the club’s U21 side since suffering a hamstring injury in September.
