In a recent post on X, journalist Sacha Tavolieri mentioned that Chelsea have made a move for Club Brugge midfielder Ardon Jashari this summer. However, it is understood that the Blues are facing competition from Bayer 04 Leverkusen in pursuit of the Swiss talent, who has his heart set on a switch to AC Milan this off-season.

Jashari’s Impressive Form In Belgian Football

Jashari was a solid presence at the heart of Brugge’s midfield in the previous campaign when he put in a run of eye-catching displays for them in the Jupiler Pro League. The Swiss midfield ace participated in 52 matches for his current employers last season, scoring four goals and picking up six assists across various competitions.

The 23-year-old deserves some credit for making 27 tackles, 15 blocks and 20 interceptions in the Jupiler Pro League. He even distributed the ball accurately from midfield after completing 86.6% of his attempted passes in the Belgian first division (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Belgian club will run out in the summer of 2029. Hence, the Blues would have to make a big offer if they want to stand a chance of recruiting Jashari this off-season.

Should Chelsea Boss Enzo Maresca Bring Jashari On Board?

Jashari is a tough-tackling midfielder who can scan the danger well to earn the ball back for his side at the centre of the park. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when needed and is an accurate distributor of the ball.

The Swiss sensation can even chip in by scoring and creating a handful of important goals for his team. However, it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if Chelsea manage to snap him up this summer.

Jashari would inject more bite and steel into Enzo Maresca’s midfield department. He might even help the Blues challenge across all fronts in the coming seasons.

At 23, Jashari has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for the West London club to pursue in this transfer period. All in all, Maresca would be wise to go all out to bring the Swiss midfielder on board ahead of the new campaign.
