Chelsea have been handed a potentially major boost with Eberechi Eze expected to be left out of the Crystal Palace squad for Sunday’s game according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

The Blues host Crystal Palace in their season opener looking to get the campaign off to a good start with three points.

Chelsea have had a great summer in which they won the Club World Cup, and two friendlies against Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan

Eze expected to miss Chelsea game

Chelsea will be expected to challenge for the title this season, and it’s vital they get off to a good start, but Palace will provide a tough test.

The Blues weren’t able to beat the Eagles last season, with both games ending in a draw, whilst Palace’s confidence will be high having won both the FA Cup and Community Shield.

The Eagles have got players who can hurt Chelsea, with Eze scoring the equaliser at Stamford Bridge during the last campaign.

However, Eze, who was previously linked with Chelsea, could now be joining Tottenham, and Tavolieri has provided an update ahead of the London derby, which will benefit the Blues..

He took to X.com and said:

“EXCL – Eberechi Eze pushing to join Tottenham!

“He agreed on personal terms with Spurs & wants to leave Crystal Palace. Eze expected to be left out of the squad against Chelsea this Sunday.

“Eze wants to leave #CPFC. Conflict looming…

“Palace already in talks for his replacement. Wait&See… #mercato #THFC”

Maresca faces selection headache

Chelsea head into the game with a number of options to choose from, and Maresca has a few decisions to make in certain positions.

Wesley Fofana could be fit, and it will be interesting to see who gets the nod between Liam Delap and Joao Pedro up front.
