Manchester United’s pursuit of Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise could be complicated by interest from Chelsea.

The FA Cup winners enjoyed a wonderful weekend as the team put in a wonderful performance to lift the cup for the first time since 2016 under Louis van Gaal, beating Manchester City 2-1 in the process.

Going to the game, few, if any, publicly gave United a chance, so victory was incredibly satisfying for everyone connected to Old Trafford.

However, despite the cup win adding a significant amount of gloss to the season and ensuring fans go into the summer much happier than they anticipated, the club still has some serious work to do in the transfer window owing to the team’s eighth place finish in the league.

One player that United are reportedly 100% committed to trying to sign is that of Olise, as his signing has already received the greenlight from the United hierarchy.

The 22-year-old attacker has enjoyed another very successful season where in spite of only playing 19 games owing to injury, he has plundered 10 goals and six assists.

However, like everything in the life of United, nothing is ever easy, and despite the Frenchman being a boyhood United fan, they face significant competition from teams such as Newcastle United and Chelsea for the exciting talent.

Nonetheless latest reports had suggested that United were leading the race for the player as he wants to move to Old Trafford. However, The Mirror report that “Chelsea will move for £60million Michael Olise – regardless of who they make their new manager.”

It is said that “Arsenal are set to have the edge as the versatile attacker is keen to play Champions League football…But that will not deter Chelsea who remain hugely impressed by his goals, his assists and his consistent high level of performance.”

It must also be remembered that the Londoners were very close to completing a deal for the 22 year old last summer before the deal eventually broke down at the last minute.

As the Mirror suggest, United will feel their hand has been significantly boosted in the summer window due to the cup win meaning they can offer Europa League football in the coming season. Rivals Chelsea can only offer the Conference League and Newcastle have been left with no European football after the weekend’s results.

The Red Devils will also be emboldened by the player’s affection for the club and the completion of a deal would send shockwaves around the Premier League as he is widely regarded as one of the biggest up and coming talents in the country.
