In a recent report, Football.London revealed that Chelsea are keeping a keen eye on Barcelona playmaker Fermin Lopez this summer. It has been claimed that the Blues are showing interest in bringing the Spanish attacker to Stamford Bridge in this transfer window.
Lopez was a decent contributor for the Catalan giants in the previous campaign when he put in a series of impressive displays for them in the final third. The Spain international registered eight goals and grabbed ten assists in 46 matches for Barcelona last season across multiple competitions.
The 22-year-old gave a good account of himself in the opposition half as he averaged 2.95 shots per 90 minutes in La Liga. He kept 36.6% of his attempts on target. Lopez was even tidy when distributing the ball after making 81.8% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top tier (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the Nou Camp will expire in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for the Blues to snap him up on the cheap in this transfer window.

Lopez is a decent dribbler with the ball and can make some driving runs with it in the opponent’s half. He can strike the ball well from long range and has got the vision to play a few killer passes on the offensive end of the field.
The Spaniard did well to add a lot of goals and assists to his game last season. However, the jury is still out on whether he can maintain his good form in the Premier League if Chelsea manage to get him on board this summer.
Lopez would add a lot of firepower to Enzo Maresca’s frontline. He is more than capable of nailing down a regular first-team spot at the West London club this season. Furthermore, the Spanish talent could help Chelsea compete across all fronts over the next few years.
At 22, Lopez has the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday. Hence, the Blues should focus on trying everything they can to bring him to Stamford Bridge before the end of this transfer period.
