Chelsea and Arsenal both hold an interest in RB Leipzig midfielder Xavi Simons, who is keen to move to the Premier League this summer.

Simons is open to leaving Leipzig just six months after his loan spell from Paris Saint-Germain was made permanent. The German side are yet to receive any approaches for the 22-year-old but he is a player of interest to both Arsenal and Chelsea.

In just 25 appearances, Simons scored 10 goals in the Bundesliga last season and added seven assists, but is open to an exit after Leipzig missed out on European football.

A season earlier, he had been name in the Bundesliga Team of the Season during his debut campaign in Germany.

Arsenal want to bring in another creative option, having tracked Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze. Chelsea are long-term admirers of the Dutch international, who would command a fee in the region of €65m (£56m) plus add-ons.

“There’s an outside chance depending on what the final price is & this is more left-field, but Xavi Simons is one that Arsenal really like,” Journalist Ben Jacobs revealed, while also confirming Chelsea’s interest.

“The player is very keen on a move to the Premier League.

“The challenge is that it was a complicated deal that saw him go to Leipzig, the total outlay was €80m & the guaranteed fee was €50m, but if he leaves so soon, a lot of those add-ons would not be paid.

“There’s a window of opportunity, so I would keep a small eye on Arsenal, but I don’t want to get anyone over excited needlessly.”
