An agreement in principle has been reached between Chelsea and Bynoe-Gittens for a seven-year deal.

The Englishman, who previously spent time in Chelsea’s youth academy, has emerged as a top target for the club as they aim to bolster their attacking options.

They recently opted against signing Jadon Sancho on a permanent deal, but are about to acquire a significant upgrade on him.

He enjoyed a breakout 2024-25 season, scoring 12 goals and providing three assists across all competitions.

The winger is the youngest Englishman to score against Real Madrid in the Champions League at 20 years and 75 days.

Known for his explosive pace and dribbling ability, Bynoe-Gittens is seen as an ideal fit for Enzo Maresca’s high-intensity, possession-based system.

Top European clubs have closely monitored the winger’s development in the Bundesliga, but Chelsea are the front-runners.

The Premier League giants are trying to finalise a fee, with the club keen to complete the deal swiftly to integrate Bynoe-Gittens into the squad ahead of the Club World Cup, which commences on June 14.

Bynoe-Gittens is well on course to become Chelsea’s second signing of the summer window after Liam Delap, who recently completed a move from Ipswich Town.

However, Chelsea are still in the market for another centre forward. They are keen on Hugo Ekitike, while Viktor Gyokeres could also be an option.
