Chelsea have reached an agreement with Brighton and Hove Albion to take Facundo Buonanotte on loan for the new season, according to reports from David Ornstein of The Athletic.
The move comes after a busy summer for the London club as they look to strengthen their squad to challenge across all competitions this campaign.
The 20-year-old midfielder will join on a straight season-long loan, with no option included for a permanent transfer at the end of the deal.
Enzo Maresca is keen to add depth and quality after guiding Chelsea to their Club World Cup victory, as they continue building for success.
Chelsea were heavily linked with Xavi Simons earlier this summer, but the Dutch international completed a switch to Tottenham Hotspur instead.
Leeds United had been in talks with Brighton and even arranged medicals for Buonanotte, but the player decided to join Chelsea instead.
The Argentine playmaker spent last season on loan at Leicester City, where he impressed with six goals and three assists in all competitions.
His form at Leicester highlighted his ability to adapt quickly and play a decisive role in attack, which helped raise his profile further.
Buonanotte is regarded as a sharp and creative attacking midfielder with excellent ball control and strong decision-making in dangerous areas.
He is known for his quick dribbling, clever movement, and ability to operate effectively in tight spaces, which makes him hard to defend against.
With a low centre of gravity, he uses sudden changes of pace and sharp turns to beat opponents and create openings in the final third.
He is also confident when playing short passes, through balls, and linking with forwards, which allows him to create clear scoring chances.
Beyond his attacking qualities, Buonanotte is a willing runner who presses high up the pitch and helps defensively when needed.
His blend of skill, energy, and vision could prove valuable for Chelsea as they push for success on several fronts this season.
