The Addicks have already added Thomas Kaminski and Amari'i Bell to their ranks this summer
Charlton Athletic have registered their interest in Luton Town defender Reece Burke.
Journalist Richard Cawley has reported that The Addicks are working towards a deal with the recently relegated League One side for Burke, who made just 17 Championship appearances for Luton last season, due in part to a quad injury which took him out of action for over three months.
Nathan Jones' side have been active in the summer window as they prepare for a first season back in the Championship after five consecutive years in the third tier, already securing the services of Sonny Carey and Tanto Olaofe, two of the top-performing League One players last term.
Alongside those two, though, Charlton have been doing some shopping at Jones' former club, and Burke could be set to be the third Luton player to make the switch to the Valley after Thomas Kaminski and Amari'i Bell also made the move this summer.
Per a report from Cawley, Charlton Athletic have registered their interest in a deal for Luton Town defender Reece Burke.
The 28-year-old has spent four seasons at Kenilworth Road after being brought to Luton by Nathan Jones from Hull City in 2021. His time at Luton has been a real rollercoaster, being involved in two play-off campaigns, one promotion and two relegations.
Various injuries have slowed his momentum down while at Luton, only playing more than 25 league games once in his four years at the club, but when available, he has been one of the main fixtures in the Hatters' backline.
His per 90-minute stats in last season's Championship saw him rank in the top 20% of second-tier centre-backs in tackles won, interceptions and blocks, so the belief is that if he can re-find his fitness for a full season, he'd be an integral part of the Charlton backline as they look to survive in their first season back in the division.
If Charlton were successful in their pursuit of Reece Burke this summer, the Addicks would have signed three players who were part of Luton Town's 2024/25 squad.
Thomas Kaminski and Amari'i Bell have already made their move to the Valley, with the latter being signed by Nathan Jones previously when the Welsh manager was in the Kenilworth Road dugout.
Bringing in players who Jones has worked with in the past at Luton isn't something new at Charlton either, with the likes of Greg Docherty, Allan Campbell, Dan Potts, Luke Berry and Danny Hylton all being brought to the club under Jones' reign since he took over in February 2024.
Jones enjoyed plenty of success whilst at Luton Town, taking the club from League Two all the way to the Championship play-offs and setting the foundations for the side which would eventually achieve promotion to the Premier League in 2023.
Charlton fans will be hoping that, following a return to the Championship, they can achieve similar success under Jones, with his former Luton players in the squad.
