Chaos at Al Ahly: Zizo Transfer Sparks Dressing Room Revolt
Tensions are rising inside Al Ahly’s dressing room following the high profile free transfer of Ahmed Sayed Zizo from bitter rivals Zamalek as fresh revelations over the deal's value fuel unrest among senior players.
According to Egyptian reports, several players have demanded contract upgrades to match Zizo’s lucrative terms.
Defender Ramy Rabia's already left after his demands were rejected while the club's now working to placate stars Mohamed El Shenawy & Emam Ashour with improved deals.
Former Al Ahly defender Sherif Hazem didn’t hold back in televised interview, saying:
"The door's wide open at Al Ahly. Players like Zizo, Bencherki and Trezeguet are getting huge salaries and now there're massive gaps in wages"
Hazem criticized the growing class divide within the team:
"I’m against player categories .. If player like Aliou Dieng wants more money, he deserves it. He’s the best in his position"
He added:
"There're no longer any so called red lines in football. Zizo broke the rules at Zamalek and is doing the same at Al Ahly"
Former Zamalek official Amr El Ganainy revealed that Zizo demanded EGP 50 million as signing bonus and EGP 80 million per season which Zamalek attempted to secure through external funding.
However Al Ahly’s offer reportedly far exceeded it.
