Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Atalanta, Leverkusen, Tottenham, Sporting, Newcastle, and Bilbao—these are the clubs PSG will face during this season's Champions League group stage. According to Opta, it's the toughest draw alongside Bayern's. And that's something Parisian coach Luis Enrique is not happy about.
"To be honest, I think to really analyze this, I need to wait until next year, the next draw. If I see the same thing again, then the computer button must be broken! It's important for us to realize that this new format may be attractive for some teams, but all 36 teams have different schedules, and the calendar is a crucial factor in finishing in the top 8. With our schedule, just like last year, it will be normal to drop points because the level of our opponents is so high." he declared.
He went on to explain his reasoning: "There isn't a single easy match, not a single easy team on our schedule. We got a bit lucky with Pot 2, but we drew the toughest teams from Pots 1, 3, and 4. It's going to be tough to finish in the top eight. We can do it, but it's going to be very difficult. That's the competition, we have to accept it. It's nice to play against Barcelona because it's my home, but I'm not happy with this draw—it's a tough feeling to evaluate."
