No sooner had the whistle sounded on the UEFA Champions League 0-0 draw with FC Kairat, than the thoughts of the playing squad turned – not to next Tuesday’s return leg in Kazakhstan – but to the much more immediate task of taking on Livingston at home today (Saturday).
The SPFL clash is next on the agenda with Celtic racking up two wins out of two so far in games against St Mirren and Aberdeen, and, defender, Cameron Carter-Vickers is intent on maintaining that success rate in this quick turnaround against David Martindale’s side.
The US internationalist told Celtic TV: “So far in the league we’ve been pretty good.
“There’s obviously areas you want to improve upon, but, the performances have been okay and we’ve been getting the results we wanted.
“So now it’s about focusing on the league and trying to pick up three points on Saturday.
“Livingston will be well-organised and will work hard, so it will be about us bringing our quality to the game, and hopefully if we do that we’ll have enough to win the game.
The centre-half also stated the team have belief in all fronts this season after lifting both the SPFL trophy and the League Cup while just missing out on the Scottish Cup last term.
Carter-Vickers said: “Last year we had a fairly good crack at it.
“Losing the Scottish Cup final wasn’t what we wanted, but up to that point we were pretty competitive in all competitions and it’s something we are looking to re-create this year.
‘It’s just about consistency in your work, day-in, day-out.’
“And when you have that, you naturally bring it into the games, and the more consistent you can be in each and every game, then generally the better the outcome.”
