Celtic are reportedly targeting Wolfsburg’s Koen Casteels as the club looks to replace Joe Hart in the summer. The Englishman will hang up his gloves after the Scottish Cup Final against Rangers.

According to The Daily Mail, Celtic are interested in bringing the experienced goalkeeper to Paradise.

After 274 appearances for Wolfsburg, Casteels sealed an emotional farewell last week. Although, given his status as a Belgian Internationalist and the lack of transfer fee, a number of clubs will be keeping tabs on the goalkeeper.

Casteels is a free agent this summer as his deal with the Bundesliga side expires. The 31-year-old is being courted by a number of teams from Europe, including Anderlecht.

Celtic have been linked with Aro Muric from Burnley, Alex McCarthy from Southampton and Ugurcan Cakir from Trabzonspor. The theme appears to be that the club are targeting a goalkeeper with experience.

Hart will retire from professional football at the end of the season, which concludes after Saturday’s Scottish Cup Final against Rangers. The 37-year-old will leave a big hole in the Celtic changing room as well as on the pitch.
