Celtic are reportedly in advanced talks over the sale of Yang to Norwich City. The Championship side have been keen on the South Korean talent in recent weeks after selling Borja Sainz to Porto for £14.25m.
According to Sun Sport, talks are at an advanced stage in a transfer that will severely deplete Celtic in the wide areas.
Luis Palma departed this week for Lech Poznan with Marco Tilio also leaving for Rapid Vienna. Celtic are already in the market to strengthen on their right flank given Nicolas Kühn’s €19m departure to Como.
It would be somewhat surprising if Celtic allowed a player to depart without a number of players in the building. Brendan has confirmed that Benjamin Nygren has been signed to play as a midfielder so he is not expected to be Kühn’s replacement. It remains to be seen whether Celtic advance in their pursuit of Michel-Ange Balikwisha from Royal Antwerp, who has been linked for some time.
There is no mention regarding the fee for Yang but you would expect it to be in the region of £5m. Celtic should be mindful of Norwich’s hardline approach last summer, which saw Celtic pay £9m to sign Adam Idah on a permanent basis.
Yang has made 65 appearances for Celtic, scoring 7 goals and assisting on 9 occasions. The winger is a frustrating watch at times given his lack of consistency. The Cup Final display wasn’t particularly impressive but then again, his performance against Newcastle was neat at the weekend, showing what he is capable of.
