Carlo Ancelotti in doubt over resting Mbappe vs Alaves following youngster’s injury | OneFootball

Endrick’s strong start to life in Madrid was not something many saw coming. The young Brazilian phenom’s talent has never been in doubt for he is one of world football’s most highest rated prodigies.

However, he was expected to go through a learning curve at his new club especially arriving from South America. The youngster, however, has wasted no time and scored on debut in both the UEFA Champions League and La Liga.

Given his strong showing and maturity beyond his year, he was expected to earn his first start this week.

Change in plans

As revealed recently, Carlo Ancelotti initially planned to hand Endrick his first La Liga start against Deportivo Alaves later today.

After all, it would serve as the perfect rotation to help Kylian Mbappe get some much-needed rest before the team’s all-important clash against Atletico Madrid this weekend.

There is now a change of plan, however, after the youngster received a hit earlier today in training. His starting position is now in doubt as revealed by Radio MARCA and it remains to be seen if he recovers in time for the game later today.

As it stands, Mbappe is likely to start for Los Blancos once more, likely alongside Vinicius Jr who did not start against Espanyol.

Endrick’s blow appears to be a minor knock and he is thus expected to be on the bench even if he does not start. Based on his feelings, a cameo in the second half cannot be ruled out.

The youngster will now have to wait for his full La Liga debut a little longer, for the manager will prefer experienced options once more for the Madrid derby. If not tonight, he may thus only start against Villarreal or Celta Vigo next month.
