Benfica comfortably saw off Auckland City with a 6-0 win in a Fifa Club World Cup match that was delayed by more than two hours due to thunderstorms.

The New Zealand side looked far more organised than the team that were thrashed 10-0 by Bayern Munich in their opener.

It took Benfica until first-half stoppage time to break the deadlock, with Ángel Di María calmly converting from the penalty spot.

The match was then halted for around two and a half hours at half-time due to heavy rain and thunder in Orlando.

Vangelis Pavlidis doubled the lead eight minutes after the restart, finishing off some tidy work in the box.

As Auckland began to tire, the Eagles took full control and added four more goals.

Renato Sanches got a slice of luck with a deflected strike, before Leandro Barreiro bagged a quickfire brace from close range. Di María rounded things off with his second penalty of the night.
