Hakan Calhanoglu saw similarities between the Inter 1-0 victory over RB Leipzig and the one against Arsenal, but admits his recent injuries were ‘worrying.’
It was far tougher than expected at San Siro, because they ultimately only got the points thanks to Castello Lukeba accidentally deflecting a Federico Dimarco free kick into his own net.
Nonetheless, it was enough to ensure a 1-0 win and they remain top of the Champions League table on 13 points, awaiting Liverpool’s result tomorrow evening.
“We are happy, it is another great result for us to stay up there,” Calhanoglu told Inter TV.
“Perhaps we should’ve scored more goals considering all that we created, but at the end of the day like against Arsenal, we held the line and proved that we are doing well defensively too.”

Inter are the only side in the Champions League who have not conceded a single goal so far, holding Manchester City 0-0 in the opening fixture, then winning five in a row.
Notably, aside from the 4-0 against Crvena Zvezda, the last three have all been 1-0 with Young Boys, Arsenal and RB Leipzig.
“We created lots of chances in the first half, but Leipzig are a strong team with a high press and they caused us more problems after the break, but the result was what mattered tonight.”
Calhanoglu returned to the starting XI this evening after picking up another muscular issue on international duty with Turkey.
This is becoming a recurring problem for the midfielder, who is starting to struggle with the never-ending fixture list.
“I was happy to be back, because having two injuries in the same leg was worrying. I hope to continue playing now without pain,” he added.
“We must always be ready and keep going like this.”
