The BVB women got off to a flying start and took the lead in the second minute. Ann-Sophie Vogel used her pace to break through on the left and played a low, precise ball into the centre of the penalty area, where Jasmin Jabbes finished coolly to make it 1-0. In the tenth minute, Sara Ito had the chance to extend the lead. After a delightful backheel pass from Rita Schumacher, Ito found herself with a clear sight of goal from ten metres out, but the Leverkusen goalkeeper was able to make the save. However, the second goal did not take long to arrive: Jabbes struck again in the 19th minute. Schumacher passed to Jabbes on the edge of the penalty area, who then curled the ball into the top right corner of the net.

Annika Enderle had the chance to extend the lead in the 35th minute, but her shot ended up in the side netting. Four minutes later, Jabbes showed her excellent vision to play a perfect through ball to send Enderle through on goal. However, her low shot zipped just wide of the left post. Shortly before half-time, Jabbes struck again to score her third goal of the day: in the 42nd minute, Enderle played the ball across the face of goal from the byline towards Jabbes, who was lurking in the penalty area and slotted home to make it 3-0. But that wasn’t all: BVB increased their lead to 4-0 before the half-time whistle. This time it was Dana Marquardt who found the net after a pass from Schumacher.

The Black & Yellows started the second half as dominantly as they had the first. In the 52nd minute, Marquardt confidently converted a penalty to make it 5-0. Shortly afterwards, Schumacher had a double chance but was unable to convert either of them into goals. Ronja Leubner then scored the next goal for BVB in the 58th minute: after a high cross, Marquardt headed the ball into the penalty area to Leubner, who took it first time and slotted it safely into the net to make it 6-0 for the BVB women.

In front of 1,448 spectators at the Rote Erde stadium, Leverkusen continued to show fighting spirit despite the deficit. A strong save by their goalkeeper prevented Jabbes from scoring a fourth goal. The BVB substitutes also ensured further attacking action. In the 78th minute, Nora Willeke missed the chance to make it 7-0 after a precise pass from Noreen Günnewig. She was through on goal with only the goalkeeper to beat, but came off second best in the one-on-one. Emilia Pauls suffered a similar fate in the 83rd minute, with her shot also being saved by the Leverkusen keeper. In the end, it remained a comfortable 6-0 victory for the BVB women, who celebrated a perfect start to the 2025/26 Regionalliga season in front of their fans

Next weekend, they will play their first away game of the season. On Sunday (31 August), the BVB women will be guests of the U21 team of 1. FC Köln. Kick-off is at 12:00 CEST at Sportplatz Efferen in Hürth.
