Burnley manager Vincent Kompany is considered a ‘dark horse’ for the Chelsea job after the club parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino on Tuesday, as reported by The Guardian.

The Premier League side had quite a productive campaign under Pochettino, as they reached the EFL Cup final, the FA Cup semi-final, and finished in sixth place in the league, meaning European football will be back at Stamford Bridge next season.

However, that wasn’t enough for him to remain at the club, as it was mutually agreed between Pochettino and the Chelsea board that they would go their separate ways.

That means the Blues are looking for a new manager, and it seems Burnley boss Vincent Kompany is someone who could be on the club’s radar.

As mentioned, Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino parted ways on Tuesday evening, meaning the club is looking for their fourth manager under this new ownership.

It now seems that the Blues are looking to go down the younger route when it comes to a manager.

According to the Guardian, Chelsea are interested in Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna, who has emerged as a leading candidate.

While it also states that Brentford’s Thomas Frank, Girona’s Michel, Leicester City’s Enzo Maresca, and Stuttgart’s Sebastian Hoeness are also under consideration by the club.

It goes on to add that Burnley’s Vincent Kompany has been described as a ‘dark horse’ despite being in charge of the Clarets’ relegation to the Championship.

Vincent Kompany is also on the radar of Bayern Munich

As well as possibly being under consideration for the Chelsea job, Vincent Kompany is also in the frame for another top European job.

It was reported by Fabrizio Romano that the Belgian was under consideration for the job at Bayern Munich as a replacement for Thomas Tuchel.

The Italian added that Kompany has been discussed by the club internally as they weigh up their options for a new manager.

It has since been reported by talkSPORT that Kompany is interested in the Bayern Munich job, which comes after overseeing his second season in charge at Turf Moor.

Both Bayern Munich and Chelsea jobs are hard for Kompany to ignore

Burnley supporters may have been anticipating interest in their manager, but not many could have expected to see Bayern Munich and Chelsea circling with intent.

Kompany has done a very good job at Burnley in his short time at the club, with the 2022/23 season being the best, as he guided the club to promotion back to the Premier League with a total of 101 points.

However, this season wasn’t as successful, as Burnley struggled to get going in the top flight, picking up just 24 points in total after winning just five games.

But the Belgian has earned plaudits for changing the style of play at Turf Moor, and it seems that despite his side being relegated, he is still held in high regard.

It will be hard for Kompany to ignore the speculation, and it will be even harder for him to turn down either one of these jobs, given what they can offer and what it could do for his career.
