Jaidon Anthony has started every Championship game since arriving at Burnley on loan from AFC Bournemouth

Burnley loanee Jaidon Anthony revealed he is gunning to earn promotion with the Clarets in order to seal a permanent move to Turf Moor this summer.

Winger Anthony reunited with former AFC Bournemouth manager Scott Parker in the summer, joining Burnley for the campaign on loan from the Cherries.

The switch will become permanent if the Clarets go on to secure promotion to the Premier League, with Anthony very keen on making that a reality.

Although appreciated by Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, Anthony has found himself loaned out by his parent club for the past two seasons.

His spell at Leeds United last campaign was disappointing on multiple fronts, Anthony playing a bit-part role as the Whites fell at the final hurdle – the Championship play-off final.

Although he made 31 league appearances for Leeds, Anthony had just 479 minutes on the pitch in the Championship last term.

He has already had over five times the amount of minutes with the Clarets, playing 2,632 minutes in the Championship this campaign.

Burnley are currently fighting for an automatic promotion spot, but Anthony knows no matter how Burnley earn promotion, he will have a permanent transfer to Turf Moor thanks to a clause in his loan deal from Bournemouth.

According to Alan Nixon’s Patreon, a fee of £7.5million has been set for Anthony’s permanent transfer, which will automatically be activated if Burnley go on to secure a return to the top-flight after a year-long absence.

And that is an enticing prospect for the 25-year-old, who helped the Clarets to a 4-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night with two assists.

As quoted by Alan Nixon’s Patreon, Anthony shared: “If we go up I will be here permanently, which is an exciting prospect.

“If we go up I want to continue playing in the Premier League. I am loving it here. I didn’t play as much last season, but I am back getting game time.”

Although handed his debut the season prior to Parker’s arrival at Dean Court, Anthony became a trusted lieutenant for his current boss at Bournemouth, a key part of the side that secured promotion from the Championship in the 2021/22 campaign.

That was Anthony’s breakthrough season as a professional, cutting inside from the left-wing to great effect – producing eight goals and six assists in 45 Championship games.

Parker is again trusting Anthony on a consistent basis, with the former Arsenal youth player having played 94% of available minutes in Burnley’s Championship campaign so far this season.

Whilst playing time has been similar to Anthony’s spell under Parker at Bournemouth, the winger’s playing position has been slightly different.

Rather than playing on the left and cutting onto his natural right foot, Anthony had to adapt and play on the right-hand side.

However, the arrival of Marcus Edwards in January has allowed Anthony to switch back to his preferred role on the left.

The Bournemouth loanee continued: “There is real competition in my position right now, and we have Luca Koleosho to come back.

“It helps us really, we all keep pushing.

“It’s a big difference for me. The right isn’t my natural side and I have had to adapt. I am delighted to be back on the left, but I am happy wherever I play.”
