Brest were previously interested in Chelsea goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina (21) before intensifying talks with Ligue 1 rivals OGC Nice over Maxime Dupé (32), according to Mohamed Toubache-Ter. The Bretons are in the market for a goalkeeper after parting ways with Marco Bizot (34). The reliable Dutch shot-stopper was set to enter his final contract year in Brittany, but he was allowed to leave as a recognition of his contributions.

Aston Villa pounced and signed Bizot, who is understood to act, for now, as Emiliano Martinez’s backup. Brest then scoured the market for a goalkeeper. According to Mohamed Toubache-Ter, Eric Roy’s Bretons were interested in Slonina. The 21-year-old spent the first half of the past campaign on loan at Barnsley FC before being recalled by Chelsea. He was an unused substitute during the Club World Cup.

It appears Brest have moved on from Slonina to another more experienced target in Maxime Dupé. The 32-year-old goalkeeper was Marcin Bulka’s understudy in Nice. Les Aiglons have replaced the Pole by Reims’ Yehvann Diouf. Talks are reportedly heating up between Nice and Brest.
